Many therapists believe there is a relationship between posture and pain. For example, that 'poor' back and neck posture causes back or neck pain or that clients with less than optimal shoulder, knee or foot postures have more shoulder, hip or knee problems than clients with 'normal' joint postures. Clients too are often fascinated to know more about their posture and may even ask their therapist about it. Therefore being able to perform postural assessments and understanding what your observations mean, is a valuable skill that can help inform your treatment and provide you with a new service to offer your customers. The aims of this one day workshop are: to increase your understanding of posture and factors affecting it to enable you to carry out accurate postural assessments On this practical workshop you will learn how to carry out a standing postural assessment in a step-by-step fashion and how to document your observations. Under guidance you will learn to asses the posture from the front, back and side views and by the end of the day will be able to carry out a full postural assessment. This day is also an opportunity for you to have your own posture assessed, should you wish. Jane is author of 6 books including Postural Assessment and Postural Correction and will share with you the many tips she has picked up having performed hundreds of postural assessments over the last 20 years. She is currently studying for a PhD in this subject area and has up-to-date knowledge of research in this field. Bring your questions, bring your curiosity, bring your posture! In order to attend you need to hold a recognised Massage Qualification and Anatomy & Pathology certification or be a current student of MTI. All attendees will receive 5 CPD points and a certificate on completion of the workshop. Tea/coffee is available from the Art House cafe. Participants must provide their own lunch or can get lunch in Sheffield city centre. There are plenty of car parks close to the venue. It is about a 10 min walk from Sheffield TRain Station. Places for this amazing workshop are limited and must be booked in advance! One ticket per person - please do not book tickets for other people.
