What is the Stress Response?
This week's Stress Awareness post is an explanation of the stress response.
While everyone knows the feeling of being stressed, you may not be aware of it's cause. There is a belief that stress is purely psychological - 'all in the mind' - and something we should be able to talk ourselves out of.
In fact, it is an ancient survival mechanism that our body uses to keep us out of harm's way. It's a series of biochemical reactions that once triggered, we have no conscious control over.
