Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy – Practice and Assessment

This workshop will focus on the practice and assessment of Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy (MTrP), a key technique in modern therapeutic massage. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of how to effectively assess and treat myofascial trigger points, integrating them into a tailored treatment plan for clients.

The session will begin with an in-depth demonstration of MTrP technique, illustrating how to palpate and identify trigger points in various muscle groups. Attendees will be shown how to apply pressure effectively to release these points, discussing the physiological basis for the technique and its therapeutic benefits.

Following the demonstration, the workshop will shift to the client assessment process. Participants will learn how to conduct a thorough assessment to identify areas of tension and pain related to trigger points, considering both the client’s physical symptoms and their broader health context. Emphasis will be placed on how to recognise trigger points through observation, palpation, and client feedback.

Finally, we will explore how trigger points are integrated into a comprehensive treatment plan. Attendees will gain insight into how to combine MTrP with other massage techniques, how to address associated muscular imbalances, and how to customise the approach based on the individual needs and progress of the client.

This interactive session will provide participants with practical skills, case examples, and valuable strategies for incorporating Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy into their massage practice, ensuring effective and personalised treatment for clients.
