Massage for Women’s Health with Heidi Armstrong

This workshop is designed to deepen your understanding of how massage can support women’s health throughout various stages of life. By combining insights into the anatomy and physiology of the reproductive system with traditional Japanese techniques and acupressure approaches, this training provides a holistic foundation for supporting women’s health and wellbeing.

What you’ll learn and explore:

  • Adapting Abdominal Massage for Reproductive Pathologies: Learn safe and effective ways to tailor abdominal massage techniques for clients experiencing reproductive health conditions, such as endometriosis, fibroids, or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Discover how to provide comfort and support without exacerbating symptoms.

  • Supporting the Sacroiliac Joint and Pelvis: Understand the impact of hormonal changes on the sacroiliac joint and pelvis, and learn how to use massage to relieve discomfort, improve alignment, and enhance mobility during times of hormonal fluctuation, such as the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and menopause.

  • Acupressure Points for Women’s Health: Explore key acupressure points that can be used to support hormonal balance, relieve menstrual discomfort, and promote overall reproductive health. These techniques can be incorporated into your treatments to provide additional benefits for your clients.

  • Self-Abdominal Massage for Self-Care and Client Aftercare: Learn the techniques and benefits of self-abdominal massage, empowering both you and your clients to incorporate this gentle yet powerful practice into daily routines for self-care and continued wellbeing.

By the end of the workshop, you will have a range of practical tools and techniques to enhance your massage practice, with a focus on nurturing and supporting women’s health.

Heidi Armstrong

Heidi Armstrong trained in Swedish massage in 1993 after the birth of her first son. She then pursued a full-time holistic therapies course, expanding her expertise to include Reflexology and Aromatherapy, and further developed her massage training with MTI. In 2001, Heidi graduated from the Bristol School of Shiatsu.

Throughout her career, Heidi has consistently worked with pregnant women. In 2006, she deepened her passion by completing a postgraduate course in Maternity care with the Well Mother organization. Subsequently, Heidi became one of their teachers, training therapists to work specifically in pregnancy.

Over 15 years ago, Heidi embarked on a journey to teach complementary therapies. She has shared her knowledge at various schools, including Bath City College and Bath School of Shiatsu and Yoga, where she continues to teach. Heidi instructs advanced massage courses at BCMB Bristol and imparts Anatomy and Physiology knowledge on the Yoga Bohdi Yoga Teacher Training in Bath.

In 2013, Heidi assumed leadership of the Bath School of Reflexology, originally founded by Rosalind Oxenford, who had been her inspiring Reflexology teacher years before. Under Heidi’s guidance, the school has evolved into a College for Complementary Therapies, focusing on CPD courses for therapists.
