About my treatments
I offer you not just a massage treatment, but a learning experience and a journey towards better self-awareness. I work with you using a variety of massage and bodywork approaches, to give you a treatment programme which is truly tailored to your specific needs. There are no predetermined massage sequences, routines or treatment plans. Every treatment is different, even for the same person on different days. I never know how a treatment is going to unfold until I am actually working with you.
When you arrive at the clinic, you will be greeted by myself and my friendly guide dog, Jenni. Once Jenni has said ‘hello’, she will remain a quiet presence in the room.
Here is a brief summary of the treatments which I offer. In practice however, I do not distinguish between individual therapies. I simply use the best combination of techniques for you on the day.
Holistic Therapeutic Massage in Exeter
The massage is tailored to suit you, using various massage strokes, ranging from light touch to firm pressure, with stretches and joint mobilisations/movement. This will leave you feeling relaxed and may help to relieve aches, stress and tension.
Holistic Sports and Remedial Massage in Exeter
People often think “no pain, no gain”, when it comes to sports massage, but it does not have to be this way. I use advanced bodywork techniques to help you get better faster, or optimise your physical performance, in a person-centred way. I aim to “work with” you, rather than “doing to” you, because I believe that this achieves the best results for you with the least possible discomfort.
Myofascial Release (MFR) in Exeter
I work with slow, sustained pressure, holds and stretches directly on your skin, without oil, to release restrictions in your connective tissue (fascia).
Your bones, muscles, skin and internal organs are all attached to the fascia. Therefore, this subtle, yet deep treatment really does affect your whole body in many amazing ways.
MFR can help you to correct your posture, keep your internal organs working healthily and can aid phenomenal releases of stored-up physical and emotional tension.
Scar Tissue Release in Exeter
Scars can be uncomfortable, impair your movement, appear unsightly and make you feel self-conscious. They are a normal part of the body’s healing process after injury or surgery, but the layers of fascia can get stuck together and then the surrounding tissues and organs do not move and work quite as they should.
The great news though is that I can use both MFR and aromatherapy massage to help unstick the tissues on and around your scar, where it feels stuck or sore. This can make it easier for you to move and the scar often looks better too, giving you back your confidence.
Deep Tissue Massage in Exeter
People often think “no pain, no gain”, when it comes to deep tissue massage, but it does not have to be this way.
I use my forearms and elbows to work firmly, yet sensitively, into tight and aching areas. Leaning in with my body weight enables me to work deeply into your muscles, without causing you unnecessary pain or discomfort.
Clinical Aromatherapy in Exeter
Having a massage with natural essential oils from aromatic and medicinal plants will bring a sense of luxury to your treatment, as well as added health benefits for your body and mind.
After a thorough consultation, I mix your unique oil blend to suit your physical and emotional needs on the day. For long-term treatment and lasting benefits, I can make up prescription oil blends for you to use at home too.
Aroma-Fascial facial in Exeter
I combine specialised myofascial release (MFR) techniques and aromatherapy massage with exotic essential oils, to give you a natural facelift, glowing skin and a deep feeling of relaxation.
I am the only therapist currently offering this treatment in Exeter.

Karen Bealey: I went in with a neck and lower back problem with the feeling of stiffness and a frequently crick neck and not being able to stand up for long periods of time and have come out feeling free. After two sessions I feel 80% better! I followed the instructions given by Sarah and I'm now so happy! Thank you! October 3, 2017
Holly Auld: I have been having treatments with Sarah since August this year and the outcome of weekly sessions has been truly amazing. After being diagnosed with Primary lymphodema in my lower legs in June (which have been causing me issues since I was around 11) I decided to seek out massage therapy as a form of manageable treatment. My mum initially met Sarah and booked me my first appointment and straight off the bat my mum told me that Sarah was a lovely lady and definitely knew her stuff! I went into the first session being a bit apprehensive of aromatherapy but came out of the hour-long appointment and my view had completely changed. My legs were never extremely swollen to start off with but I noticed it and my confidence was low. After having sessions with Sarah for around a month and a half now my legs have not only shrunk in size but she has been able to relieve the pain which I got with it also. Sarah is very knowledgeable and always has an answer to any question. She has given me oils to self-use at home and a range of exercises to do also which have contributed massively as well. All in all, Sarah is great at what she does and has helped me 100%. The sessions are relaxing and enjoyable and she is always welcoming. I would be more than happy to recommend her to anyone. Sarah Cooke: I received 5 x 1 hour massage treatments from Sarah for a long-standing shoulder problem. Sarah explained everything thoroughly and the treatment has given me more movement back and reduced the pain in my shoulder. Sarah supplied me with follow-up exercises to do at home. I would have no hesitation in recommending Sarah. June 15, 2017
Tamzin Craine: I started visiting Sarah last year and am really impressed with the results. There is a consultation at the start so that the massage and oils can be tailored to help with particular problem areas and with mood. Sarah's breadth of knowledge and technique are impressive and I always come away from a session feeling so much better. The aftercare is very useful too. My aches and pains have definitely lessened and it's made a difference to my posture too. Highly recommended! January 8, 2015
Katie Hutton: I needed an urgent appointment because I woke up with terrible shoulder pain and luckily Sarah was able to fit me in that day. After thorough consultation to assess the cause of the problem, she tried out various different massage techniques which were actually really enjoyable at the same time as being beneficial. By the next day the pain had completely gone and never came back again, which is fantastic! September 8, 2014
J Lavelle: I had a massage with Dr. Bryan on Friday 22nd August. She began with a posture check, identifying my hips and lower back as being tense. She then worked on these areas, using aromatherapy oils suited to my present mood. The massage was the perfect pressure, and Dr. Bryan responded quickly and helpfully to any immediate feedback I had. She also demonstrated some stretches I could do at home to continue to relieve the tension in the problem areas. I highly recommend Dr. Bryan's professionalism and empathy in listening to her clients needs, and her clear explanations of what she was doing throughout the session. Judy Woodhams: I travelled all the way from Bedfordshire by coach and it was definitely worth the journey! Sarah chose the perfect mix of aromatherapy oils to life my mood. The massage was like magic and removed all the tension from my back and side. She even helped improve my posture. I would definitely recommend a holistic massage from Sarah, you will leave feeling comfortable, relaxed and glowing...I certainly did! August 10, 2014
Neil: I have recently finished a six week course of massage with Sarah. At the outset my energy levels were low and I was holding tension in my neck , jaw and upper and lower back. Sarah spoke to me at length about what it was I wanted to achieve from the massage and took a detailed report of my present state of health and circumstances. At the start of every session Sarah prepared a mixture of essential oils to both aid the massage and balance my energy and mood. The massages were deeply relaxing and wholly pleasant and over the six week period I noticed a distinct improvement in my sense of physical and emotional balance. The massages could be light or vigorous as required and left me feeling elevated. I now enjoy a considerable reduction of tension esp in my neck and my levels of energy and enthusiasm have soared. It's been three or four weeks since my last massage and I am still feeling the benefits. I can highly recommend Sarah' s approach. May 21, 2014
